Where can I find television and radio programs in Irish

Television programs #

RTÉ often has programs in Irish, and if you don’t catch them live, you can search for ‘Gaeilge’ on the RTÉ player to choose a program from their archives. Watch Scannal, an investigative series that can be very interesting.

Tune into TG4 at any time of day and you’ll find programs in Irish, or search the TG4 player to find other different programs. You can also watch TG4 live online from anywhere in the world. Watch Ros na Rún, a light soap opera in the archives, or Bailte, a documentary about the towns of Ireland, or Laochra Gael about GAA players.

Programs for children are now available on the cúla4 channel.

BBC Gaeilge also broadcasts Irish-language programs, and you can catch up on them on their online archives.

You can also find a wealth of Irish-language programs and videos on YouTube – just search with ‘Gaeilge’. Try Scúp, a comedy series set in a newspaper office in Belfast.

Radio programs #

There are several stations available that broadcast entirely in Irish—RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta, Raidió Rí-Rá, Raidió na Life, and Raidió Fáilte.

You’ll also find that other radio stations have Irish-language programs regularly in their schedules – for example, An Nuacht on RTÉ Radio 1 or Hit 30 na hÉireann on SPIN South West.
