Events for schools only #

Gaeilge24 – To encourage young people to try to speak Irish non-stop for one whole day, 24 hours: at home, at school, in shops and businesses, around the town, in sports clubs and with friends! 300 schools, 30,000 students!

#Dúshlán – Competition aimed at second and third level students to encourage them to engage with Irish in a fun way. There are 30 challenges to undertake within 50 hours. There will be a different prize for the best secondary school team and the best university team.

Training for Secondary School Irish Officers – Day-long training sessions for students provided by Conradh na Gaeilge and the Irish Secondary Schools Union, including interactive workshops about promoting Irish in school and much more.

Ard-Fheis na nÓg – A unique event for young people, bringing teenagers from the Gaeltacht and senior-cycle students from Gaelcholáistí across the country together in a location within a different Gaeltacht region each year.

An Seó Bóthair/Roadshow – An interactive workshop that encourages students to use critical thinking to examine their opinions about the Irish language.

Ceardlann na Sraithe Sinsearaí – Workshops aimed at 5th & 6th Year students in Gaelcholáistí and Gaeltacht schools. It is a more in-depth version of the Seó Bóthair Roadshow (which is aimed at Transition Year classes), with more information on language rights, employment opportunities through Irish, and other opportunities to take part in the Irish-speaking community after the Leaving Certificate.

Raidió Rí-Rá workshops  – Gives students the opportunity to learn and practise radio skills. Participants will learn communications, editing and production skills. The best of the radio shows will be aired on Raidió Rí-Rá or will be made available on their website.

Gaelbhratach – Encourages and enables schools to promote Irish in a planned, ongoing, enjoyable way.

General events schools can take part in #

TrasnaNadTonnta (in partnership with ‘Comhrá’) – Giving individuals and groups the opportunity to use and celebrate whatever Irish they have. Between online events, an ongoing conversation circle, and competitions, there will be plenty of opportunities for people to get involved.

Seachtain na Gaeilge – one of the biggest events in the Irish-language calendar.
