Caint & Comhrá
What is a Ciorcal Comhrá?
A ciorcal comhrá is an Irish-language conversation group that meets up regularly to chat socially in Irish, often while hillwalking, or playing sports or as part of a Pop-up Gaeltacht.
There are over 250 ciorcal comhrá around the world, catering for all language skill levels. Some groups meet online also.
As Conradh na Gaeilge says, you don’t need a crowd to get your cúpla focal going – it only takes two!
The ‘Caint & Comhrá’ network
The network of ciorcail chomhrá come together under a nationwide program called Caint & Comhrá (previously known as Is Leor Beirt ).
It’s easy to start a new Caint & Comhrá group – all you need is a group of people that meet together regularly to chat together in Irish. There’s no costs involved and the groups usually meet at lunchtime and coffee breaks.
When you’ve settled on the time, place, and main contacts for your conversation circle, send the details to caint@cnag.ie, or add the details to our event list so that they are visible to everyone.
You’ll find plenty of information and support in our Lámhleabhar Tacaíochta (Support Handbook). The content of this handbook is designed to help you organise your ciorcal comhrá and includes discussion material and useful prompts and questions that can be used in the group.
