The Irish language information hub: News, events, job vacancies & more

About Scéal.ie

Scéal.ie is an online resource where people can find up-to-date information on every aspect of living a contemporary life through and with Irish, all in one place.
“If what you need isn’t on Scéal.ie, it’s not anywhere!”

What is Scéal

On Scéal.ie, you’ll find information on news stories, Irish-language events, current open job vacancies, businesses who offer their services through Irish, details of Irish-language cultural centres, information on Irish-language classes and conversation circles, and many other topics of interest to the Irish-language community.

Every morning, we distribute a daily newsletter both in email and on WhatsApp, where you’ll find a summary of the day’s news, information about upcoming events, available job vacancies, and more.

We share items from Scéal.ie on our social media channels every day.

If you’re looking for the Irish version of your surname, or a translation of a word, you can find this information directly on Scéal.ie. Our page on surnames is one of the most popular on our website.

“The Irish-language information hub.”

Our Story

Scéal.ie was launched at Oireachtas na Samhna 2025, as a refreshed and updated replacement of the PEIG.ie website that had been live since 2014.

Like PEIG.ie, the main role of Scéal.ie is to be the central hub of information for the Irish-language community, gathering and sharing information on the most important Irish-language events, job vacancies, news stories, and more.

The website is run by Conradh na Gaeilge, with funding support from Fhoras na Gaeilge.

Our Community

It’s our hope that anyone with an interest in the Irish language will find something to enjoy or benefit from on our site.

Irish-language speakers, learners, parents, teachers, pupils, students, Irish-language networks, organisations, businesses, language planning teams, people based in Ireland and abroad – we’ll be doing our best to serve them all as best we can.
